Acting like a lady

The next morning after the sad loss in court. Jem was still angry at the Ewells for making Tom guilty. Atticus had gotten a surplus amount of food from all the colored folks. They had given all the food to my father for protecting Tom. I was really proud for what my dad had done to help Tom. Atticus at this time was crying and told Calpurnia to tell all the colored folks that they don't have to do this again. It was really unusual to see my tough and brave dad starting to cry, but I understand how happy he felt when he got these presents from the colored folks. One day when my dad went to work, Mr. Ewell came up to him and spat on his face saying that he will get my dad for making him look like a fool in the courtroom. I was really scared that Bob Ewell was going to hurt or maybe kill my dad, but my dad told me not to worry and I believed my dad. On a Saturday I was wearing my Sunday pink dress when Aunt Alexandra called her missionary circle to my house to talk. At first I didn't want to hang out with my Aunt and her friends, but when I brought my mother's coffee pitcher I was asked by my Aunt to stay and talk with her friends. Stephanie Crawford always said that I wanted to be a lawyer like my dad, but I disagreed. As Miss. Maudie started to pressure my hand I stopped the conversation. Stephanie Crawford should stop asking really annoying questions because I'm always getting irked. After I listened to Miss. Merriweather's conversation about a man named J. Grimes Evereet who is helping children in the jungle and she also talked about the Mruna family's problems. I had an instinct that gave me an enjoyable time with the ladies the first time in my life. Suddenly Atticus came and told Cal, Aunt Alexandra, and me to come inside the kitchen, Miss. Maudie came in also. Atticus told us that Tom was killed when he tried to run away from jail, Tom was shot to death. I was in complete sorrow and I my heart just fell into grieve. Aunt Alexandra was crying for what Maycomb did to Atticus. They ruined his chances to save Tom and they are tearing him into pieces, but Miss Maudie told Aunt Alexandra that Maycomb gives these jobs to Atticus because he can handle them. I also believe Maycomb gives these jobs to Atticus because he is the most fair-minded man, and he can handle difficult discussions. After Cal and my dad were going to Helen, Tom Robison's wife, to tell her what happened. Miss. Maude, Aunt Alexandra and I went back to the ladies like nothing happened. I started to serve cookies to the ladies, which made Aunt Alexandra see the well-mannered lady in me. This made Aunt Alexandra smile for once. I was feeling more like a lady and I was being positive influence to Aunt Alexandra and I'm starting to like being a girl. Go Girls!
