Why did they Kill these innocent Mockingbirds?

All this time in Maycomb there were mockingbirds that were hurt for nothing. Tom Robinson a well mannered colored folk who had a good family that he worked for to put some food on the table. As time went on the Ewells convicted Tom guilty of raping and beating Mayella. Tom was innocent because he couldn't have beaten Mayella with his left short arm and he was hugged and kissed by Mayella and Tom tried to escape. Mayella was supposed to be charged for having relationships with a colored folk, but instead Tom gets convicted guilty for raping and beating Mayella. Tom didn't do anything, but he did the good thing by telling the truth, but instead he gets thrown in jail. Tom knew he was innocent, and he tried to escape from jail, but he was shot to death. Tom was like a mocking bird that just did good deeds, but he got killed for doing nothing bad. Atticus is another mocking bird in Maycomb that was hurt for protecting a colored folk. Atticus was not only mocked, and he was also threatened by gangs to stop protecting Tom. Atticus told Jem and I not to be affected at what they called him. As Atticus was trying to prove the innocence of Tom, the rest of the town was with the guilty Ewells. The whole town was mocking, threatening and hurting Atticus's feelings while Atticus was doing the good thing by proving the innocent. Atticus was also a hurt mockingbird. Last but not least my buddy Arthur Radley was the most important mocking bird in Maycomb. All these years I had thought that Arthur was a savage, violent, ugly, looking beast, but the whole time Arthur was a loving and caring person. The whole town was saying that Arthur was mentally challanged, he ate raw meat, he looked into people's houses at night, and he killed his mother. I found out that all these were harsh rumors making fun of Arthur. Arthur in return gave Jem and I presents such as the soap, the chain and the watch, and what did we give in return. We gave Arthur nothing, but anger, sadness, and we made fun of him. Even though we mad fun of Arthur, he still loved us and he protected Jem and I from the violent Mr. Ewell. Arthur was also a very hurt mockingbird. I want to declare that before you judge someone you have to be in their shoes. Like I always say it is a sin to hurt or kill a Mocking Bird.

Is That You BOO?

When Atticus and Cal told Helen that Tom died Helen fainted and fell to the ground, but she was back to normal after few hours. I feel really bad for Helen because she has no one that works for her family to provide food and money. One day Link Deas gave Helen a cooking job because he was friend of Tom. That Evil Bob Ewell is getting a grudge on everybody that was against him in the courtroom. He spat on my dad because he was protecting Tom. One day he followed Helen while Helen was going to work. Helen called Link and Link threatened Bob Ewell by telling him he will go to jail if he follows Helen again. I believe Link is a very caring man for giving Helen a job and protecting her from Mr. Ewell. Also Judge Taylor was injured by an unknown person who might be Mr. Ewell because Judge Taylor in the courtroom made Mr. Ewell into a fool for the case of Tom Robinson. From what Mr. Ewell is doing I think he is a drunk and violent person that has many problems in his life. One night Jem was taking me to my pageant for the Ad of Astra Per Aspera that was directed by Miss Merriweather. Jem only took me to the pageant because Atticus and Aunt Alexandra were really tired for working on the stage for the pageant. It was very dark and scary while walking to the school's auditorium for the pageant. Cecil Jacobs scared Jem and I for no reason. That Cecil Jacobs is a really wild and crazy boy. He gave me the goose bumps. As the pageant started I changed in my Ham costume and I was remembering my signal to come on stage, which was pork. Miss Merriweather started to give her boring speech about Maycomb's history such as Colonel Maycomb. The speech was so boring that I fell into sleep and I was very late to be on the stage. Miss. Meriweather was really angry at me. I think Miss. Merriweather should take a chill pill because her pageant was still good. Gosh! As we were going back home with my funny ham costume. I forgot my shoes at the auditorium, but Jem told I should get it tomorrow, and I was so angry because I was bare foot walking on hard land. As Jem and I were walking Jem told me to stop walking because he heard something. I was really scared, but than I thought it was Cecil Jacobs to hold back my fear. Jem suddenly told me to run. At this point my heartbeat was flying, and than boom! I fell. Jem carried me up and fought with a person. I couldn't see anything because of my costume, but I still saw the fighting going on. As I heard Jem scream with all my anger I bumped into the person that hurt Jem, but I was pushed away and I heard another person fighting our enemy and our enemy started to have a deadly cough. The enemy was on the ground and the person who saved me was carrying Jem to my house. I wanted to thank that person who saved my life. Without him I would be dead! Atticus saw Jem's lifeless body and called the sheriff, Mr. Tate while Aunt Alexandra called Dr. Reynolds. Everyone asked if I was okay and I was lucky to be and my heartbeat slowed down because I was safe now. Dr. Reynolds gave medication to Jem and I asked him if Jem was dead, but he said that Jem only had a bump and a broken arm. I was so happy that Jem was okay that I wanted to hug him. Mr. Tate came and told Atticus that Mr. Ewell was found dead with a kitchen knife stuck under his ribs. Ohhhh! That evil Ewell got what he deserved for messing with the Finches, but I'm still frightened from Mr. Ewell for trying to kill Jem and I. I explained to the sheriff what I had seen and Mr. Tate decided that Mr. Ewell had killed himself by falling on his kitchen knife, but Atticus thought Jem killed him, but Mr. Tate was so furious that he decided that Mr. Ewell killed himself and he had the evidence. I wanted to thank the country folk who saved my life, and when I saw the folk he was very pale, white, sweaty,

Acting like a lady

The next morning after the sad loss in court. Jem was still angry at the Ewells for making Tom guilty. Atticus had gotten a surplus amount of food from all the colored folks. They had given all the food to my father for protecting Tom. I was really proud for what my dad had done to help Tom. Atticus at this time was crying and told Calpurnia to tell all the colored folks that they don't have to do this again. It was really unusual to see my tough and brave dad starting to cry, but I understand how happy he felt when he got these presents from the colored folks. One day when my dad went to work, Mr. Ewell came up to him and spat on his face saying that he will get my dad for making him look like a fool in the courtroom. I was really scared that Bob Ewell was going to hurt or maybe kill my dad, but my dad told me not to worry and I believed my dad. On a Saturday I was wearing my Sunday pink dress when Aunt Alexandra called her missionary circle to my house to talk. At first I didn't want to hang out with my Aunt and her friends, but when I brought my mother's coffee pitcher I was asked by my Aunt to stay and talk with her friends. Stephanie Crawford always said that I wanted to be a lawyer like my dad, but I disagreed. As Miss. Maudie started to pressure my hand I stopped the conversation. Stephanie Crawford should stop asking really annoying questions because I'm always getting irked. After I listened to Miss. Merriweather's conversation about a man named J. Grimes Evereet who is helping children in the jungle and she also talked about the Mruna family's problems. I had an instinct that gave me an enjoyable time with the ladies the first time in my life. Suddenly Atticus came and told Cal, Aunt Alexandra, and me to come inside the kitchen, Miss. Maudie came in also. Atticus told us that Tom was killed when he tried to run away from jail, Tom was shot to death. I was in complete sorrow and I my heart just fell into grieve. Aunt Alexandra was crying for what Maycomb did to Atticus. They ruined his chances to save Tom and they are tearing him into pieces, but Miss Maudie told Aunt Alexandra that Maycomb gives these jobs to Atticus because he can handle them. I also believe Maycomb gives these jobs to Atticus because he is the most fair-minded man, and he can handle difficult discussions. After Cal and my dad were going to Helen, Tom Robison's wife, to tell her what happened. Miss. Maude, Aunt Alexandra and I went back to the ladies like nothing happened. I started to serve cookies to the ladies, which made Aunt Alexandra see the well-mannered lady in me. This made Aunt Alexandra smile for once. I was feeling more like a lady and I was being positive influence to Aunt Alexandra and I'm starting to like being a girl. Go Girls!

That's not fair, Tom Robinson is innocent!

Atticus took Tom Robinson to the witness stand. Tom always passed by Mayella's house after coming from work at Link Dea's grounds. Every time Tom Robinson passed Mayella's house Tom said she had something needed for him to do. When I heard this I knew there was something fishy going around Mayella, maybe she has a secret crush on Tom. Tom said on November 21st Mayella called him to fix the door hinges inside the house. Tom didn't want to go inside the house, and the children weren't around. Oh no at that point I knew that Mayella likes Tom. Tom said that the door hinges had no problem so Mayella said she needs help to bust another chiffarobe. As Tom was on the chair getting the chiffarobe, Mayella hugged and kissed Tom. When Tom said this everyone in the courtroom was so silent that no one can hear a pin drop. Aha! Mayella is really guilty now. Atticus is going to win and Tom is innocent! Jem was so happy that I could tell from his face. Tom after said that he ran away when Bob Ewell came and said to Mayella you Goddamn whore, I will kill you. I really didn't know what that meant, but I acted like I did so Jem wouldn't tell Reverend Sykes I don't understand. Also this showed that Bob Ewell has violent actions toward Mayella, which can mean that Mr. Ewell beat Mayella. When Mr. Gilmer, the defendant of Mayella, started to question Tom. Dill and I had to go outside of the court, because Dill was crying because of how Mr.Gilmer treated Tom while cross-examining him. Suddenly, Dolphus Raymond came and gave Dill his drink covered with a bag. I thought it was alcohol, but Dill said it was just coke. I found out that Mr. Dolphus acted this way so people won't know how he lived in real life. I noticed that Mr. Dolphus is a really nice guy and he is very caring. As we went back in the courtroom, Atticus was explaining that the quote "All men are created equal" is not real in people's knowledge, and physical appearance. I agree that some people are smarter or better looking than others. My dad said that everyone is equal in the Courts in the United State of America and he said please declare the innocence of Tom Robinson. I have never seen my dad talking with passion with his tie loosened, his shirt unbuttoned. I could tell my dad was giving all he's got to prove Tom innocent and the way it’s looking right now my Atticus is winning. Go Dad! Suddenly I saw Calpurnia go to Atticus and give him a letter from Aunt Alexandra saying that Jem, Dill, and I are missing. Atticus knew we were in the courtroom, and he told us that after we eat our supper than we could hear the results of the court's decision. Oh man I wanted to know what the jury was going to decide about Tom, but Atticus told me it was going to take a long time. As we went home to eat supper Calpurnia was really angry for once at Jem, and not at me. Finally! I was telling myself. Aunt Alexandra was in shock that we were in the courtroom also. I think that Aunt Alexandra sometimes over exaggerates small problems. When we went back to the courtroom I was in a happy mood because I thought Atticus was victorious. As we went in the courtroom everything was still the same, and boring. Finally the jury came back in the courtroom and decided that Tom was guilty for all charges. Wait a second did I just hear guilty. I did and I am confused how Tom was still guilty. Jem and I were really angry and sad. Jem was about to cry as the colored folks and I stood up for Atticus's passionate try to prove Tom innocent. I couldn't believe how the guilty Ewells walk away like nothing happened and Tom so innocent goes to jail, but I still believe in my father because he will get Tom still out of jail. I hope Tom will soon be free!

In the court room

As Jem, Dill, and I went in the courtroom for Atticus's case to start we couldn't find a place to watch the court case. Reverend Sykes took us upstairs with the colored folks. Reverend Sykes is a very well respected man that I like. The case started and I was really nervous if Atticus was going to win the case or not. Jem was holding the railing bar so tight that you can tell he was extremely nervous. Atticus started the case by calling Mr. Tate on the witness stand. Then I saw Atticus question Mr. Tate very suspiciously. I was watching the case with open eyes not missing a single word that came out of Atticus or Mr. Tate's mouth. Mr. Tate was saying that Mr. Ewell called him to see if Mayella was okay, and Mr. Tate saw Mayella had a black right eye and her neck had hand marks. At this point I felt like Tom Robison was guilty for raping and harming Mayella Ewell. Atticus asked why they didn't call for a doctor, and Mr. Tate didn't give a clear answer which gave me a hope of success for Tom to be innocent. The next person to the witness stand was that really mean looking Bob or Mr. Ewell. Mr. Ewell was asked by Atticus to write his name and Mr. Ewell wrote his name with the left hand, which got me confused why Atticus was asking Bob to write his name. Then Mayella was on the witness stand. I think Mayella was the only person that showed the good sides of the Ewells just like her beautiful flowers at their house. I believe that Mayella is lying that Tom has beaten her because she said that her dad was good person, but she was going to say something else, but she was forced to forget the negative aspect of her father. I finally understood what Atticus was trying to do. My super smart dad is trying to convince that Mr. Ewell has beaten Mayella because he has a perfect left hand unlike Tom who's hand is really short because when he was little he had got his hand stuck in the cotton gin. Also, Bob Ewell is drunk who has a very annoying and unkind attitude. I believe that Tom is innocent and should be freed from guilt, but Jem, Dill, and I were so nervous that we were staring at the courtroom with our eyes bulging back and forth at the discussions. Reverend Sykes told Jem that I should go home because the discussions were starting to get a little too mature for me, but I stayed because I believe I am very mature. I hope Tom is free from guilt and Atticus can win using his smart techniques. Lets go Fiches! Tom is innocent!

Saved by a little girl!

As the summer came Atticus's case was coming close to start. The case was about Tom Robisnson, a colored man, which had so called raped Mayela Ewell. What is rape? I asked Calpurnia and she said that I should ask Atticus. I knew this word is something really bad that Atticus has to explain to me in well-mannered way. Atticus finally told me that rape was the carnal knowledge of a female by force and without consent. What the heck did that mean I was asking myself, but I had an idea that it was a bad word about women. One day when we went home these men for example Mr. Tate called Atticus outside, the sheriff of Maycomb. At this point I was scared at what they were going to do to Atticus for protecting Tom Robinson. Mr Tate and the other men said that Atticus should leave Tom Robinson's case because if he doesn’t his career will be over. Atticus disagreed on the men's request, and I was proud of my dad how courageously alone he fought these men verbally and he was winning. Go DAD! As I was watching Jem I felt his fear of Atticus getting injured by the men, but as the men left Jem's and also my heart beat started to slow down like God saved us from the devil. As the night went on I saw Atticus going to town with his car. I was very curious where he was going with his car because Atticus always walked. Jem, Dill and I walked to town to find Atticus. As we were walking I had a bad feeling that something was happening to Atticus and we had to save him. It was dark on top of that and I was sacred like I was 4 years old, but I am 6 years old and BRAVE, I TELL YOU! Suddenly Atticus loomed in front of us. Atticus was by the jail with a light bulb. Out of nowhere these black colored cars came with many men surrounding Atticus. Oh no, I knew when there is trouble and this is major drama. When those black cars came with the men I knew these men had a grudge against my daddy. I had to do something. So I ran to my Atticus. Jem and Dill followed me. Atticus told Jem that he should take Dill home and me. My opinion was to stay with Atticus and Jem also wanted to stay. Good job Jem! I was saying in my head. Out of the blue I saw Mr. Cunningham and asked him how his entailments were. I also told him I knew his son Walter Cunningham, and I apologized to him for beating his son up. I talked to Mr. Cunningham so they would lose their attention on Atticus and put their attention on me. I was acting as a diversion to save my dad and also Tom Robison who was behind Atticus in the jail. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that Atticus was behind the jail to protect Tom Robinson and Mr. Underwood the writer of the Tribune was upstairs with a shot gun helping Atticus also. So back to the story. After Mr. Cunningham said he will say to Walter that I said hi. Mr. Cunningham told the men to leave and they left Atticus, and Tom alone. All right my plan worked, and my cuteness defeated those wicked men that tried to defeat my #1 dad. Atticus was proud of all of us to follow him and save his and Tom's life. After this chaotic day I was surprised how courageous I was to stand up to that gang! I can't believe a little girl like me defeated the gang.

Snow and Fire

In Maycomb it was cold and snowing since 1885, but it started to snow again. When it started to snow I thought the world was about to end because I have never seen snow in my life. That sounds funny, snow scared me, wow! Mr. Avery said that it snows when kids like Jem and me are fooling around and being bad. Jem and I went to Miss. Maudie's house to make something called a snowman, but I knew it was going to be fun. We made the snowman out of snow and a little out of dirt because there wasn't a lot of snow. Miss. Maudie said that we had to cover up her garden with bags so her plants wouldn't freeze and die. Ahh! Work during fun that stinks, but I love Miss. Maudie so it doesn't matter if I had to do work. During the night when we were sound asleep I was awakened from sleep by Atticus. Atticus told us to go outside, as we went outside I saw Miss. Maudie's house on fire. The fire trucks came and I was so terrified of all the fire and the cold that was shivering my bones. As I saw Mr. Avery fall from the house I was just scared like I saw a monster! Thank Goodness Mr. Avery was okay. As the fire went down, Miss. Maudies house was torn down to pieces. Miss Maudie wasn't angry as I thought she would be. Miss. Maudie wanted a new house with a bigger garden and from now on she would be living with Stephanie Crawford. I was surprised how positive, optimistic, and happy Miss. Maudie was even though her house burns down. She influenced me to be optimistic during hard times or during difficult setbacks in life. When Atticus told me that Arthur Radley also called Boo Radley put a blanket on me when I was shivering made me gasp with excitement and a little terror because Boo Radley was right behind me. I can't wait to see him and thank him for the blanket.
